See the unique White Desert, a prehistoric coral reef were you can find fossilized sea shells, fish and sea plants among the beautiful and almost surreal lime stone shapes. Crystal Mountain, with crystals in fantastic shapes and sizes scattered around large area, probably formed when a large meteor hit the area, the iron rich Black Desert or the almost endless sand dunes of the Great Sand Sea.
The richness and variety of Egyptian landscape is endless. At least if you ever decide to visit the White Desert, that's the message you'll get. It is a vast stretch of land in the Western Desert that borders Bahariya Oasis to the north and Al-Farafra to the south.
The Snow White Desert is actually made of chalk that has been exposed for years to what geologists call "differential weathering," the erosion of soft particles that results in eerie protrusions of hard rock. This explains the very beautiful forms that now fill the White Desert including shapes like domes, minarets, castles, towers and so forth.
The destination has proved a great attraction to all travelers who camp in the few oases, watch the fauna and flora and enjoy the mild winter weather.
Shallow water levels allow for modest vegetation and wildlife. One example is the Cairo University Oasis which comprises only one palm and a few green trees, used by academics and students to rest and eat. The desert could be a great safari area.
 

Day 1
Arrive at Golden Valley Hotel from Cairo in time for lunch. After lunch a local tour of the oasis and it's surroundings visiting the palm tree gardens, the salt lake, and several other sights finishing at English Mountain at sunset for a view of the oasis. Dinner served at GVH and in the evening Bedouin party around the camp fire next to the hotel.

Day 2
In the morning of day 2 after breakfast a visit to the local museum and monuments for about one hour before starting the safari in 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers going via Black Desert, Crystal Mountain and Agabat area to White desert for one night of camping under the stars.

Day 3
We continue west and arrive in the afternoon to Cave El Obayed where we make camp and stay the night

Day 4
After breakfast we continue west and arrive at the front sand dunes of the Great Sand Sea to find our night camp.

Day 5 -7
We drive north-west through the Great Sand Sea by climbing sand dunes where possible and enjoy the amazing beauty of the Great Sand Sea camping at the foot of majestic sand dunes, visiting Bir Russi (Russian spring) and arriving at Bir Wahed just south of Siwa Oasis on day 7 for a swim in the warm water . Last night is spent in a hotel in Siwa Oasis

Day 8
Starting early in the morning to return from Siwa to Bahariya Oasis via road. Arriving early afternoon for lunch and return trip to Cairo
